As a new mum, it can be difficult to work out exactly what to wear when you’re out and about in the summer. We want to be fashionable yet practical and this can be incredibly difficult at times.
Here are some great tips and ideas on what you can wear as a new mum this summer while keeping the cost of new outfits at an absolute minimum:
• Floating maxi dresses: full length Maxi dresses really are the perfect summer outfit as they combine practicality with comfort and style. If you have recently given birth then they are incredibly useful as they are very good at hiding your stretch marks as well as any remaining lumps or bumps (although I’m sure they will soon disappear). A floating maxi dress is also highly useful if you’re relaxing in the sun on the beach as it allows for breathability as well as high fashion.
• Long skirts: Full length skirts really are the height of fashion right now. Again, they are incredibly useful for hiding any lumps and bumps and provide the perfect material for a summer evening; once again offering comfort and breathability. Check out any catwalk from the summer/ autumn collections, they will all contain a full length skirt.
• Baby friendly t-shirts: Although we all want to look fashionable, we also need to be child conscious. For this reason, anything involving beads or glitter is off-limits as there is a risk of choking. As well as this, you must also be conscious of your child grabbing the material- nobody wants a good top ruined!
• Costume jewellery: Simple, plain statement jewellery is the ultimate accessory and is at the very height of fashion right now. As well as this, large jewellery is also safe for children as you know that there is no risk of them swallowing it! If you feel like furthering this idea, then check out Amber Pumpkin as they design baby friendly jewellery that is made from teething material.
All of these styles are highly fashionable and child friendly, thus meaning that you can dazzle on the beach while still providing everything that you need for your child. Time with your child is incredibly important and rare, so make the most of it… but make sure you still look smart and fashionable at the same time!
