I'm looking for parents who are sending their kids away to camp for the first time who may be a little "kid-sick"..ya know, afraid you'll miss them... worried a little about them. I'm a mom, but also a national TV producer and I'm doing a story on this very subject. If any mom wants to chat you can email me at kelshoemak@aol.com... Thanks!

My kids have gone to a camp for 2 weeks every summer for years now.
They absolutely love it! In fact my 17 year old daughter is sad because she is now too old, but, she is going to see if she can intern as a camp aid now.

The camp they go to is simply amazing. It's on a lake here in Idaho ..they have all kinds of activities...from water sports, land sports, arts, music, photography and even real teepee's for special groups to sleep in (it's an earned reward). I think it's great for the kids and the parents. The kids look forward to being away from home and I look forward to "me time"....but the day I go pick them up is always so special!

We have made a tradition of going out for a very nice brunch at a posh hotel on another lake before we head home. We have a wonderful meal and I get to hear all the tales of camp...then they "chill" on the ride home...everyone reflects on the past two weeks as they head back to the "real world" of everyday life.

I didn't get to go to camp as a child, so it's a really special thing for me to be able to provide for my kids.

No but I worked at a summer camp for four summers during college... it was YMCA Camp Lakewood in Missouri.
