This feels great. I wouldn't dare reveal some of the stuff on my blog that I share over here! First thanks for being the wonderful group that you are because it feels so safe to be real here.
Things aren't improving yet. We don't answer the phone. In fact, we started to just simply take it off the hook.
Here's the deal in a nut shell.
I was awarded the house and a decent settlement from my ex when we split up in 2004. The house was great, six bedrooms four bathrooms 3300 square feet and in a to-die-for neighborhood. Although it needed at lot of work, David was a skilled carpenter and things were going well. David was working, there was no fear of him not working and the great support was coming in.
We were starting to look at other houses because when he was done with repairs we wanted to move into our OWN house, make sense, right? PLUS the entire seventeen years that we were in that drop-dead-gorgeous house not a week went by that someone didn't say to us ... If you ever decide to sell, we'd love to buy. So we went looking and found the house we are in right now.
Are you with me so far? We had a great house that sparked a lot of interest but wanted to move. We put in an offer on our current house and it was accepted. ONE WEEK after we closed on our current house, Hurricane Katrina hit and no one, and I mean NO ONE was interested in buying a big ass house just two blocks off of Lake Michigan. Correct.
So for two years we floated two giant mortgages, ate past, etc. Support payments were coming in, David was working, things were tight. But our credit was pretty good. So I started to switch balances from our higher rate credit cards to new lower rate credit cards as an attempt to save on the interest. Are you still with me?
In 2006 our original house sold. We made no profit at all, just broke even because with the house I got the first and second mortgage. Anyway, we were like regular people now, with one mortgage and moving credit card balances around to lower rates constantly. Life was going fine.
Until 2007 when my cut his child support down to one quarter of what he had been paying. On his own. Without anyone's permission. Just when we were getting back on our feet. By the end of 2007, he was behind 10K and by the end of 2008 it was 30K. Yup. We are battling it out in court but he keeps getting it postponed for a variety of reasons.
One reason wasn't his fault because the judge got testicular cancer and all things were put on hold for nine months. And yes there were other judges but this is the way it went and no reason to bitch about that one. Any how, life goes on and we are further and further behind. Three times the judge has ruled in my favor and he still hasn't increased the amount. Why? Because he is self employed and cuts payroll himself.
We are currently in the contempt of court proceeds, scheduled to reconvene tomorrow morning at 9:00 a.m. If you are prayerful,
think of me during that time.
So meanwhile, I am grateful it is winter and freezing below zero because we can't have our electricity turned off or our gas discontinued because if it was any other time of the year we would be out of luck on that one.
So I've got old credit cards, new credit cards. The great ones with the zero rates weren't paid off in my original time frame because support dropped down when I wasn't planning on it so now all credit cards have high rate.
Our mortgage is at a decent rate although we are two months behind. The kids have no idea where we are at, just tha t money is really really tight.
So, in a nutshell. I am glad we have a house, health, God, etc. but I am tired. Thank you for letting me get it out of my system. I know the right thing to do would be to delete all this, but instead I am quickly pusing post because I'd love the prayers.
I am not interested in a bunch of bashing on my ex because that is more negativity than I can handle and I am so beyond it.
We had a ten year unmodifiable divorce agreement. I beleived in it, he didn't. Now it is up to the court to work out a restituion plan.
Oh, and did I mention he has already taken it to the next level? He is already appealing.
