Okay, this is more shocking and sad than wacky. Just a warning.
Different sources are reporting different numbers and orders of events, so it's pretty confused...

This woman took her child to the hospital with hypothermia on Sunday night.
The staff rang police because he was also malnourished, and they were concerned about the five other children she had left at home.

Police went to a home and found those five children living in squalor, some or all were also malnourished and suffering hypothermia.
The police also 'raided' another house (looking for a 7th child?) and found a further 14 (?) children in similar conditions with another family.

There are about 20 children involved, with 14 hospitalised for treatment. Six are still in hospital.

I was shocked and horrified when I learnt about this.
Apparently the woman was known to child protection in Victoria, but when she moved to South Australia there was no information sharing between states.

And she's pregnant again!

Ooops!  This should probably go in rants.

And here's a link to a news story on it:  http://www.abc.net.au/am/content/2008/s2283841.htm

That is crazy...how can people live with themselves?   Seriously, how do you look in the mirror?

I was totally shocked when my mother told me about this (I don't always catch the news).

Had to go sit down for a bit.  Absolutely unbelievable.

That is sad! I hate to hear of children being abused.  Hope those children are going to be okay.
