Can someone tell me how Twitter works?

I signed up and have no idea how to use it.

give us your username and we will stalk follow you...then you can go to the twitter posts here and follow us (if you want to).

basically you type in whatever you are doing or feeling during the day.  people who follow you get to find out what you say.  they can respond publicly or privately or not at all.  you can follow people too and you will see what they say all day too..it gets interesting when you follow people who talk a lot. 

I'm still not as up on it as some and get confused when i have to respond on my phone. 

It's like updating your facebook status according to my snarky teens.

No, Kenyatta. I don't use text messaging, I just tweet from my computer.

If you use Firefox, you can get an addon called Twitterfox that puts a little t icon on the right bottom corner of the firefox thingy.
Then you can click on it and see messages of people you're following and type your own message there.

I've been much more of a twit, more often, since I started using twitterfox.

With twitter, when you visit someone's twitter page and you want to follow them, just click on FOLLOW. And if you want to see your own page with all the people that YOU are following (updated in real time), just click on Home. Real easy once you get the hang of it. And you post as well. Simple to do. Just muck in, you'll catch up real quick.

Two things:

1) I'm having trouble finding people. It seems it will only search for people in my address book. In the email addy I'm using, I have very few contacts. How do I add someone who tells me they are following me?

2)How do you add a profile picture? Must it be hosted on a Web-photo site? I try to upload one from my computer but it never works.

I get an email that tells me when people are following me. I click the link in the email to go to their page. I look at their posts. Then I decide if I want to follow back.

For the photo, go to settings, up at the top, then click on photo.
