He put me on medication.  Lost not quite 30 pounds in six months~halfway there!   dancing The best part is, I changed nothing.  I simply eat less because I get full immediately.  But I still eat whatever I want.  LOVE IT!!!!!!  No crazy side effects either!   sick

I know you suggested turning the other way, but I can't LOL. The eating whatever you want is what will hurt you when you come off the medication.

I did weight watchers. I took off the weight, but I admit I was constantly hungry. So...I quit going and put the weight back on. I am not a "eat a carrot for lunch" person. I want REAL FOOD. And carrots are not real food. I also want a real breakfast, not a little yogurt.

So, this time around I changed what I was eating. I no longer eat a whole Snickers bar. You bet I still eat them, but I eat 1/3 of one. They are empty calories. They don't fill you up. Plus the more sugar you eat, the more your body craves sugar.  I also don't eat bread for dinner. That one change alone has made a huge difference. I'll still eat bread for breakfast or lunch but not dinner. I'm not going hungry, but I made some changes that have taken the weight off and this time kept it off.

Sorry...just had to comment.

Eat a real breakfast have a couple of egg whites and a glass of OJ and some lite toast. The eggs have protein which keeps you fuller longer. Check out the blog today was Weight in Wednesday.
I can give you a full day of food and I promise you will not feel hungry just let me know what amount of calories you are eating a day.

I did ask my doctor about that-what happens when I stop taking the medicine.  He said that I can wean down to a couple of times a week and monitor my weight adding a day of medicine if needed, if I start to gain.  Basically though, he said that taking this indefinitely in order to postpone or even prevent Type II diabetes was better than becoming insulin dependant.
I agreed and sticking to the meds-unless I get pregnant, then a little reprieve.
I also agree with you Audrey on the craving sugar.  MAN, did I pack it in over the holiday and now I feel gross and all I want is ice cream.  Yuck!  Back to my sugar free popsicles.  No bread at dinner, that's interesting-I might give that a whirl.

Here's a question: do think that even if I eat something sugar free my body will think it's sugar and I'll still crave it?

Did the doctor let you know that if you lose some weight that sometimes you can come off your diabetic meds. I do not know how overweight you are but I have had patients that changed thier weight and came off the blood pressure and diabetes medication. It is a thought and better then taking more medication.

OK, I don't want to spoil anyones fun here, so if you don't like what I am going to say, then please just turn a deaf ear--or blind eye?  giggle
Anyway, I was so sick of the roller coaster with my weight I marched my 60 lbs. too heavy keyster to my doc and said, "I just want to lose weight.  I quit smoking and had a baby.  I don't want to count calories or worry that I am going to be hungry all the time when I get a carrot for lunch.  I'll do my part and exercise and drink water.  Now, what can you do for me?"

I don't know if I am allowed to 'push' the drug here, so I'll keep it anonymous unless anyone is interested.

I'm curious to know which medication it is... you could send me a PM since I'm not sure either if you can tell me here what it is.

Um, taking one little pill a couple of days a week to prevent and/or postpone a diagnosis of  incurable, potentially fatal diseases like diabetes and heart disease?Huh?  Are you kidding me?Huh???  Besides never having to go on insulin in the first place, do know what the ramifications of the diagnosis do?  I will no longer be eligible to buy my own HEALTH insurance, and I will be an AUTOMATIC decline if I try to buy life insurance--(for my daughter btw)--so yeah, me and my doctor are doing everything possible to avoid all of that nonsense.  Can you imagine the cost of insulin if I don't have insurance?  Not to mention all of the supplies: glucose monitors, needles, syringes, etc.
So yeah, I'm taking the weight loss drug and LOVING life with it.  If I want a brownie I get to have one, and the drug stops me from eating 10 of them.  By the time I am on the bi-weekly instead of daily dose, my habits will have changed because I will have been eating less for over a year and will be used to small normal portions and not over-indulging.
I don't drink, smoke, or use recreational drugs, so yeah occasionally a bag of skittles is in trouble if it gets in my hands (that's a 1lb bag btw) and it's the only vice I have left.  Without this medication, that bag of skittles could literally and prematurely kill me.
I don't want to die yet.  I have way too much to do!
This is my story and I'm sticking to it! thumbs up  Oh, and I am about 5' 6" and right now am weighing in at 182 pounds.  My doc wants me at 165, but I want to be at 150.  I have large bones and incredible amounts of muscle, so less than 165 is pure vanity.  And yeah, I really just want to look good naked   Shocked   Grin

check out this Fridays photostory on my blog if you want to see a current picture of me

That's a really interesting question. Last night I had two sugar free chocolate graham cracker cookies. They really did nothing for me. They just didn't taste sweet. If I'm going to eat a cookie, I want to smell and taste the sugar and these cookies just didn't do it.

I'll eat sugar free pudding from time to time. I'm really not sure on the "craving" party. I eat it because I want something sweet and I don't want the calories of real pudding.

I'll have to do some reasearch and see if I can find an answer to the question.

Oh, no--that was not about you nursepine....that was my own frustrations coming out sideways....I meant what I said, but didn't mean to sound so harsh... i'm sorry oh, and I haven't been diagnosed yet-I guess maybe that's where the confusion was...I have only had gestational diabetes.

You are free nursepine to speak about anything you want--that's what these boards are for..... besides, like I quoted earlier-you're damned if you do, damned if you don't-we might as well be true to ourselves in the process you know?

PS--I still just wish I looked my like my former 24 year old self.  **sigh** giggle

I'm on the weight loss bandwagon with you all; just before I got divorced I lost 35 pounds and got down to 125. I'm 5'1. Once we separated life became hectic; the divorce was one thing, but add in my eldest son being diagnosed with bi-polar and me having to make the decision to put him in foster care, my kids had to be moved from homeschool to public school, and I started college with a total of 19 credits. Needless to say the stress, late night binging and Pepsi breakfasts all worked together to pack 20 of those pounds back on. For the next 3 years I didn't bother to try to loose the weight; I knew it would be more added stress and I probably would end up heavier.

So now I'm back to doing what I did to loose it in the first place. I've been counting calories and I have a walking video that I do every every day, and I also have another big name expert's book that I use for exercise and toning various areas. I'm at 145 and I want to loose 20-30 pounds.

Is everone congretating at one blog to report their results or are we just adding a weekly post to our own? I'd definitely like to join in on the accountability!
