what have been most helpful, so far, in giving me the numbers is stumbleupon.

but for regular visitors, posting comments in other blogs is helpul. of course, i dont post nonsense comments such as 'good site!' or  'good blog!'. i write sensible comments and i have established friendships with other bloggers. this e-friends are my regular visitors.

others have suggested Entrecard, technorati, and many more. but i am still finding my way on these traffic tools.

would be interesting to know what works for the others...

After you post, you can go to Pingomatic.com. It's a free service that alerts certain search engines that your blog has updated.

I just recently started using Entrecard and have seen a definite boost in my traffic.  I am going to have to check out stumblupon.  I've never used that.

I visit, I drop comments, I commend awesome visuals.  I have regulars ... are all of you on BlogHer?  When I am on their rotation, I do much better.  But, I'll admit I didn't start clicking on other BlogHer sites until I was on their rotation and saw how important it was to me to get visited.

I also started something new for me, but maybe old for others ... when I leave a comment on someone I've never been to before I indicate where I came in from ... Like, saw you on the Mom Blogs, blah blah blah ...  One person did it to me in a comment and I really appreciated it.  Pass it forward Wink

Carrie,

Yes, I am on BlogHer and totally didn't understand when I started the importance of the links.  I know look forward to the links and visit all 4 daily and leave a comment everytime.

Also, someone recently dropped a comment and told me how they got to my site and I thought that was amazing and now (even visiting the girls on here) I let them know how I got there.  I am always curious and letting someone know is nice!

I think most people read my blog thru google reader, or something similar.  I've limited the amount that you can see thru the RSS feeds, so people will actually visit the blog, and that seems to have helped. Smiley

I don't actually visit the blogs until my google reader shows that they have posted something.  Some one sent me a comment that said "I added you to my google reader" and I thought it was so cool.  BUT (and I am sure you noticed my big BUT) google reader IS NOT a link.  It is private to the person that has it.  Knowing more now, I'd rather be on a blog roll.  But, I can't stand it when people ask, "can you add me to your blog roll."

Another thing I learned is just because someone says, "oh I am totally going to add you to my blog roll" doesn't mean they will.  Wait to see if they add you before you add them.  Even if  you have to make a post it to yourself to go back and check.

It seems to be like a cruddy telemarketing gig.

What is entrecard?

you can see how many subscribers you have in google reader.  I have quite a bit, if post a blog that says leave me a comment or something, then they all come to the blog and leave me a comment.

You can see WHO is subscribed though. i would like that. Smiley

you can subscribe to any blog, as long as it has an rss feed.
Google makes blogger and  the reader, so they better be smart and link all those up!!!

Hey Peeps, Last night I did some checking out on entrecard ... This is the short list of the stuff that jumped out at me:

1. The only people that can see you are the people that belong.  Sure,it is really cool to have a lot of comments but how good is it if they are all in your own community and not in the public forum (such as technorati).

I am not knocking entrecard, is there some point of it that I am totally missing?

I think the point is to get your button advertised on someone elses blog...I am trying to save credits to have my button show up on a popular site and hopefully in that day that is shows up, people will click on it giving me traffic.  So you nurse your account by dropping when you visit other sites with accounts to build up credits.  and if you are seen by some as a "worthy" site, people will want to advertise with you, thus giving you credits...it's all about credibility and gaining traffic for your site.

If we had enough people here active in it, we could get a group of 'favorites' and the whole dropping, advertising would be easier.  We can network and help each other out...
