Berries - great question!  All of the above! It started to keep the family up to date but evolved into therapy, a place to rant, rave and share in mommyhood.  Plus, writing (even though I'm not great I'm getting better) is very relaxing for me.

i am not sure if i should check 'keeping the familu updated'. for my immediate family members know more than what i write. and the others completely does not know my blog exist.

but yes, writing (even if am not a good writer) has indeed been a therapy.

I'm afraid mine's not up there...I wanted a blog for my community and a connection to my business...I'm still figuring out how to make the community connection work...I don't have time to be a roving reporter...my thought was to highlight the shopping spots in our area and tie them into my shop.  I add bits about my family for a personal touch.  I am set up with rvablogs which is Richmond's Blog Group.  So I mostly hit the malls and our mall stores...helps that my kids love to shop...so I have some insight into their minds as well...

that gives me an idea for the next post! yeah!

My family does not know about my blog (there is another family one where I just post pictures and stuff) but my personal blog is NOT for them. I blog because I like to keep a journal and keep track of what my daughter does, and because it's good for me to write and get feelings out, and because I have made lots of good blogging friends and it helps us keep in touch!

I originally started my blog to showcase new jewelry I make.. However I don't always have the time to make new designs so I write about my girls (b/c they are hilarious) to fill in the days.  I know I LOVE to read about WAHM's and how they are able to juggle it all..

We all have different reasons for blogging. What are yours?

Great question!
I started my blog for two reasons, I really wanted to write, and I really wanted to connect with other moms and talk openly with them. Right now I am able to do both. That is why I am so torn about monetizing my blog. I want to keep it 'real' but I want to find a way to use my new found 'career' to help support my family as well.
It's a fine line.

Well, I started blogging just to hold myself accountable for being more frugal and getting out of debt.  Then people started reading my blog, and I found I could help people, so now that's a big reason.  I also like the extra money I bring in.

I don't necessarily think you have to choose between writing/connecting and monetizing.  I think I do both pretty effectively.  You just have to be selective about what ads you put up.  But you're right.  It is a fine line.

I've read your blog and I really like it. I think I'll add it to my blogroll. You have some nice ideas on there.

I first started blogging to keep all my friends updated in an organized fashion of various deals/money-saving ideas.  But, now it's more of "my" time and my way to feel like I'm helping someone - kind of like when I was working!  It's not about the money at all - that's a nice and surprising side benefit.  I truly enjoy helping people save their hard earned money!

My blog exists mostly to keep family in Alaska and Michigan up to date with pictures and milestones of Sophia, but I’m not ashamed to admit that it’s also my place to voice my opinion about EVERYTHING.   Grin A word of warning, I tend to lean hard left.  You’ve been warned.  dancing

Because I'm addicted. It's been a 9+ year addiction.  My family does not read, nor do they know what a blog is. Well, my husband knows what a blog is, but he doesn't read.   It's my place to let whatever out that's floating around in my head out.  I can private my thoughts, I can password protect them, or I can go public and hopefully get some feedback from others.

I'm one of the ones who doesn't like a lot of archives. I like a clean slate.   I own many domains, start blogs, grow tired of them and close them. I just can't help myself.   It's really a sickness, but it's fun (most of the time) and either people like me or they don't.. which is their right to do so. I am who I am.  peace

I started journaling in sep 2007 when my mom was diagnosed iwth lung cancer.

I started blogging on Christmas Eve 2007, the day after my husband confided he was emotionally involved with someone he had "met" on the internet.  I blogged through anger and tears and fears and such stuff I don't even want to think about these days.  Then, finally, I was beginning to heal and feel more myself, I found that I had very much enjoyed the writing.  Now it's just a further expression of who I am but it's my HOPE that, as I add sections on depression and some other such issues, that maybe it will help somebody.  ONE PERSON feeling like they're not all alone would be worthwhile.  Geez, that sounds really preachy and that's not how I mean it at all.  Maybe it's time for bed, no? See y'all tomorrow!
