This is a post from my own blog and, at CandidCarrie's suggestion, I am opening the topic here (hope this is the right category for it!).  I welcome any comments, suggestions, etc.

I have had a godawful stomach thing so tonight I’ve just been sitting here getting caught up on my blog reading, leaving comments where I can.  Now I have to say that there are 2 blogs so far that I couldn’t leave comments at all on because they required a blogger/google ID or an OpenID.  While I do have a google ID, it is with my real full name and used for family and business purposes — not something I want published anywhere.  On another blog, it took several tries for me to get past the “captcha” type codes because the blue-on-blue or pink-on-pink (you get my drift) is so difficult for someone with vision problems like me to read.  Now my question is:  Is there a good reason for making it so hard to comment?  I know SPAM is an issue and I know I’m probably gonna regret having my blog wide-open with no restrictions at all on comments but is there a middle ground?

On my blog I didn't check into all the setting and it apparently required a lot of effort to get past whatever hoops wordpress wanted my commentors to jump through. I removed the restriction but haven't figured out how to remove the captcha -- I have it set up for me to approve all comments so for me that is the middle ground. If anyone know how to remove the captcha please tell and I'll be happy to do so... I love comments!

*** I found it  jumping Captcha was a plugin and I have now deactivated it.... comment away!
