We cloth diaper most of the time... we use disposables sometimes when we go out, and for overnight.  Most of the cloth diapers we use are Bum Genius.  Just curious if anyone else here cloth diapers.

Other than that, I breast fed my baby for a year, but I don't think I do anything else "crunchy"  LOL

I think CD'ing is awesome.  I really wish I would have thought about it with my last child.  It woulda saved u a lil' money.  If we have any more I might think about it!

I can't breastfeed which bums me out, its due to medication i'm on...so that bites, I wish I could though!!!

So, I guess I don't do anything "crunchy" darn!

berries- I wanted to use Fuzzi Bunz! In fact that's what we bought at first and no matter what I did they leaked out the leg holes. They just didn't fit her right Sad I got them used but I stripped them and everything, and no luck. The BGs work great on her, though. Even double stuffed they still leak at night, though. We've tried just about everything and I have to stuff it so thick that it's like she's sleeping on a mountain, so we gave up and decided to do sposies at night.

tara, it all depends on the baby, which is the same with the sposies...one baby will work with huggies, and another only doesn't leak in pampers, for example.
i live the FB diapers though. i just hate that i can't use them when she gets a a diaper rash. seems counter productive.

Just use a piece of flannel or a piece of fleece between the diaper and their bottom, then you can put diaper cream on. I keep some random flannel squares around for that.

i thought of using something to "block"the cream from the fuzzi bunz, but when she gets a rash, it is all out and requires a genereous amount of cream. plus i want to use these for the next baby....if she was my last, i wouldn't mind trying that out.
i'll try it the next time i notice a little redness and see if it stops things before she needs to go into a disposable.
thx!

When my youngest was a tiny baby we did. I want to get back into it, because I LOVED it, but we can't afford $15 per diaper  Cry

You could try prefolds and covers... honestly I thought I would hate them but they are actually my favorite!

becka, i charged mine on a credit card, (bad, i know) and then wrote them off on my taxes because they were a freelancing expense since I bought them to review for a magazine article I was writing. But even without the write off, tghe average diaper expense ias something like 1,500 over 2 years and about 12-15 diapers is going to cost like 500 bucks upfront. so it is actually saving money. the only difference is that it is upfront instead of spaced out.

What berries said is so true. We spent about $250 on Bum Genius diapers and then got a few things to try on eBay and Diaper Swappers. Then we bought a stack of like 10 prefolds and two covers to expand our stash. Overall I am guessing we spent about $350-ish, maybe a little less cuz I sold some that I didn't like after I tried them.

If you use just one and a half packs of diapers a week, that's roughly $14 a week depending on the brand you use- generic vs name brand... so $56 a month. After just seven months with the kind of diaper stash I have, you are money ahead using cloth. It's just an upfront expense.

yeah, i mean, i still use disposables, but i stretch each box to the limit on how long it lasts me since i use the cloth for most of the time. i love not having to buy diapers all the time.

Yes - we use cloth diapers - they are a pocket type.  I love cloth diapers!  I wish I would have used them on my first child.  We also use disposables at times - but we use the unbleached type.
