Great news Jane!!!!I just turned 40 and my doctor told me to call and she would schedule my 1st ever mammogram, but hav ebeen afraid of how painful others say they are.  I will making my appointment.  Thanks for sharing.

Its really not painful, I have to go every six months. Just get it done, its worth the discomfort.

Tracey, my mum's been having them for over 10 years, the last 6yrs annually.
She's only ever had one mammogram that was painful and she said it was the operator, who was quite rude as well (and mum told her boss )

I will say that it's a bit uncomfortable, but it's over so soon!

And if you tell the woman doing it that it's your first time and you're feeling nervous, she'll probably be even more considerate.
