Daughter number 3 gets that red also. She is in college now and when she gives a presentation she just turns beet red and blotchy. We told the doctor and he said it was no big deal.  So for her next presentation she reminded the class that she was going to turn blotchy and they were not so shocked. It is funny because this one wants to be a trial lawyer.

The doctor might think it's no big deal, but to her it probably is.

I know for me when I am in a group setting I usually don't say anything.  It's not because I don't have anything to say- it's because I know I will get red and blotchy if I speak up.  So, it keeps me from saying things I want to say.

I think you're right Jane- we should start a club!

It must be a huuuuge deal for her. Congrats to your daughter on being so brave Wink

I heard that it's caused by capilliaries being either too close to the skin surface, or just too relaxed (they let too much blood flow to the area).

There is a treatment ~ laser resurfacing or some such, but it's pretty expensive. Tens of thousands of dollars.  Not on my To Do List right now...

How about a collaborative blog effort, girls? We could call it blushclub.com and offer info, advice & support!  Cheesy

Hayley just learned how there is nothing she can do about it and she just continues on. She truns blotchy when she is happy, anxious, mad and when she use to pitch at her softball games, anything that put stress on her. The big thing was letting the people know that this was going to happen because they get nervous watching her face start to turn red also her neck. She is very, very fair skinned and that makes it worse and brighter.
SHe does not care too much anymore only sometimes, some say it may be an allergy her skin is very sensitive, she gets really bad eczema in the winter. She had a bad allergic rection one day and we could not figure out too what there was nothing new, her face was swollen and also her eyes. The doctor thinks is was just something in the air that did it. Go figure what a freaky kid. I guess it is just one of the things you learn to live with. Sometimes she takes a benedryl if she itches and if not if she does not concentrate on it it disappears faster.

That's exactly how I am- happy, excited, anxious, mad, etc- all of those things can make me turn all red and blotchy.

I soooooo wish I could afford laser treatment for it.  Oh well.

For now, we'll just have to get that blushclub.com started!!

Let me suggest Bach's Rescue Remedy for anxiety.  It is natural, made from flower essences.  Last year I had to travel some using the Greyhound bus lines to visit my dying mom and a flew a couple of times too.  I am HUGELY HUGELY claustrophobic and I get big whopping panic attacks at the drop of a hat so we had some real concerns about me being that enclosed for really long periods of time -- 14 hours on the bus.  Somebody on some web site suggested Rescue Remedy and it helped a LOT.  I had enough of my wits about me that I was able to talk myself through my anxiety.  I got mine at Walgreens, which is just a chain-type drugstore.  I'm not affiliated iwth them in any way; just a less-anxious customer!

Willow, that sounds amazing; I'm going to check it out soon.  There's a Walgreens right down the street from me! Thanks for the info.

I just bought some last week to try, Willow.

I've been taking it whenever the kids get to be too much!

So far, I haven't been screaming *quite* as much...
