I guess I'm clueless about a blog carnival....

Is it where we all write about a certain topic and then sign Mr. Linky at your blog and then visit the other participants?

Do we write about what it's like to be a CEO or our homes?  Who are we submitting our post to?

I'm confused. Huh?

Here's the link to the mommy ceo carnival:
http://blogcarnival.com/bc/cprof_4215.html

Basically, it sounds like if you're a mom, you can submit a post.  It looks like gutsygirl is looking for posts that have to do with anything from home management to careers to hobbies to parenting.  If you write on topics like that, pick one of your best recent posts and submit it before June 14.

On June 15, gutsygirl will post the carnival, which is basically a post with the links to all the accepted submissions (as the host, she'll filter out the spam).  The participants will be encouraged to post a link to the carnival on their own blogs, telling their readers to visit.  Visitors to the carnival will be introduced to new to them blogs.

Participating in carnivals can be a good way to drive traffic to newer blogs, especially if the carnivals are done creatively and well-publicized.

Here are a couple of carnivals I've hosted in the past, so you can see what they look like:

Thanks Lynnae, I could not have said it better.  I hope that you will submit something for the carnival.   I have participated in other carnivals and enjoyed it an ddid find other blogs that i may not have seen otherwise.  I am planning to advertise as much as possible so that everyone will get some new exposure.  Thanks again,
Tracey

I'll try to remember to submit.  I've gotten out of the carnival habit.

Even if I forget, feel free to contact me the week the carnival goes up, and I'll be glad to promote it in my weekly Saturday roundup.

I am also new to this. And I have joined just one carnival. How about if we put more guidelines to the carnival?

-  There will be a designated host mom blogger of the month.
- There will be a designated topic for the month (marriage, giving birth, wedding day, birthdays, choosing a school)
-  She will host the carnival/s of the month.
- She will post the topic/s for the month on her blog, with the corresponding deadlines of submission and the day when that edition will be up on her blog.
- The host is expected to organize and post the carnivals on the agreed date
- Participants should send to the predesignated host- blogger for that period, the link to the post, the title, and a brief description of that article.
- One entry per blogger. Any post regarding the designate topic or theme, new or existing, may be entered.
- The host blogger has the sole authority and responsibility of choosing the topic, announcing them, receiving the contributions, proof reading it, and posting them as he/she deemed fit for his/her topic of choice.

Advantages of a blog carnival

Interesting, relevant topics to write on.
Increased links.
Increased traffics.
Increased sense of community.
And it's fun!

(the guidelines listed above are from a carnival i recently joined and are not mine)

Let me see if I get it... cuz sometimes I can be a little slow.   ponder

I would write a post about what it's like to be the CEO of my home sometime before June 14th.  Then I would submit my post.  On the 15th when it's time for the carnival there will be links to everyone who submitted a post so we can all read how the other moms handle their homes.  So, even though I might write my post on say June 6th- people would still be able to find my actual post because that is where the link from the carnival host would lead them.

Do I have it right?  Or am I totally off here?

You have it right, though I don't even think you have to mention being the CEO of your home.  I think she's looking for anything related to home management.  Like my site is about frugal living, so I might submit an article about how I manage being frugal with the demands of a busy schedule, or something like that.

This sounds like something I really want to explore. Lots of fun for sure. I've added a note to my "blog journal," and after I finish giving semester exams this week, I'll be back to learn more and hopefully participate.

I am ready to participate.
I am gearing up for my own as well. I hope you'll participate in that as well. When I am more awake and alert, I'll get moving on this. I am very sleepy right now.

This should be a good way to keep summer traffic moving. I'm also looking for guest bloggers throughout the summer on 'Mommy Confessions' if you are interested.
