I am not originally from Maine, but I am happy to be here.  We plan to grow old here. Yeah, the winter's are not a cakewalk, but the other 3 seasons of the year make it all worth it!

My mom lives in Maine now and absolutely loves it. She lives in Vassalboro which is right outside of Augusta. She also has a place on the water in Stu Bend. They are building a house there for when they retire and they keep their boat there. We used to camp in Maine when I was growing up, so it was somewhere she always thought of retiring, so peaceful, but you are right about the winters  Wink My family has a summer place up in Wilton, we go up for the Blueberry Festival every August. It's really fun, fireworks, old fashioned town fair, etc.!
