What do you think is the most pressing issue facing our nation today?

There is SO much going on...it's hard to get your mind around sometimes.  The out of control spending...the fact that the baby boomers are just now starting to come on the scene in terms of health care spending, the dual wars we are fighting still, the crazy weather with earthquakes, floods, and hot/cold extremes and I'm sure the hurricanes are just around the corner...

then there's the oil slick which just started showing up in my area today.   
and the terrorist threat forever looming...
and the terrible state of our and the world's economy...
and the out of control social access our kids, even our little ones, have today.  Can you imagine if every stupid think you'd ever done had been captured on film and sent around the world to live in infamy??

I guess I could go on and on...but I want to know what you think.  What's on your mind the most these days?

I am always concerned about the safety of children. Today's technology is so advanced and deviants of all natures have become so sophisticated when it comes to their availability to our nation's most precious resource.

There are many concerns, like you said.  But what concerns me, personally, is raising my children to work for what they want.  I don't want them to ever feel that anything should be handed to them.  The way we are headed, it just seems the government wants us to depend on them so much that we will eventually never think for ourselves.  It is scary, and I hope my children don't get sucked up into that.

You both echo things I've thought about too.  I work hard to make sure my kids do not EVER feel entitled to anything that they have not earned.  Just BEING here doesn't get you anything except the right to the PURSUIT of happiness. Doesn't say anything about life being fair or equal or anything else of the sort. 

I think what I am most worried about is that our country has gone so far away from what our founding fathers had in mind.  This entitlement mentality is JUST what the government wants us to have but we have to fight it.
