I signed up for Stumbleupon a couple of weeks ago.  After about 10 minutes I was too confused to even keep trying.  I just don't get it.

Great idea. Can you remind me on Firday? LOL
I have a Technorati favorite widget in my blog. When people "fave" my blog, that adds to my authroity too. So, anyone visiting my blog can feel free to do that. hint. hint.

I like technorati ... a lot.  I guess I want to be an "authority" figure.  Here's a quick way to add some authority.  On Friday's I host a Friday Foto Finish Fiesta.  With Blogger you can do it ahead any time and prepost so it just shows up on Friday.

You just pick out one of your favorite photos and post it on your blog and just explain why it is one of your favorites.  Easy, huh?

Then you link it to me with a shout out to Candid Carrie or Candid Carrie's Hosting blah blah blah (only don't say blah blah blah).

It can be as subtle or obvious as you want as long as you link to me inside your post.  Send me an email saying you are going to play along and I will include a link to your blog WITHIN my blog and that adds to your technorati total.  It adds to my technorati total because you link to me within your blog.

Plus, I've got a lot of readers that like to check out what other people posted so it is a win/win for technorati mongers, for me, for you, and ultimately there will be world peace.

You seem to have a good amount of traffic already. Although, I know we all want to reach Dooce-like stats. LOL

I too have issues with Stumble Upon. I think I need step by step instructions from someone.

I don't get it either.  I spent about 45 minutes trying to figure out how to work the dang thing.  I have enough to do checking my grammar and studying mathfacts so I don't forget them, not to mention keeping my husband happy, knowing where my children are the majority of time time and trying not to disturb the toad, etc.

I don't have time to learn a second language (stumble upon) or computer speak (html) or cook a decent meal (reheat anything frozen).

I am officially a stumble upon drop out.  I quit.  If someone stumbles upon my blog, they can do it the old fashioned way.

Okay, I've been and done my homework even if you girlies haven't. Tongue

1.  You download the stumbleupon toolbar for your browser type.

2. When you find a site, video or image that you like you click on the blue 'thumbs up' image near the left end of the toolbar. It will turn green, so you know you've done it right.

3. If that exact url hasn't been 'stumbled' previously, a little window will open up and ask you for some details about the site. Not much, just title, description, category & whether it's adult content.

4. You're done!  You've stumbled a site.

Now for part two. You can also 'go stumbling' by clicking on the little green and blue icon or the word "Stumble!" at the very left end of the toolbar.

This will take you to a random site that someone else has already stumbled.

At some stage, you will be asked to tick some boxes to mark your interests, so that StumbleUpon can show you more relevant sites.

As time goes on, it's supposed to get more accurate, depending upon what you give the "thumbs up" or the dreaded "thumbs down" to.

Does that help you out at all?

I've gone stumbling for about one and a half hours over the last week and I've noticed that I'm beginning to get traffic from stumbleupon now.

Not a lot, 10 yesterday was the most so far, but it's a start...

Just starting on the Stumbling (which threatens to be fearsomely addictive) and (as has been noted before) read the proviso that warns against 'discovering' too many posts from the same site/blog. That blog might be declared off-limits (as far as your 'discovering' more posts from there). So we're supposed to do our fair share of discovering other folks' sites too, for the general edification of all Stumblers...

Someone on blogcatalog said the other day that it's against the rules to stumble your own site.

Not sure about that, though. How would they know, for a start?
