I'd love to switch to wordpress, but what will happen to all of my content on blogger, and how will all of my traffic get redirected to a non-blogger site?[

I, on the other hand, want to do exactly what you are saying. I want to move my entire blog to a new domain. So, how do I go about doing that? I'm on Blogger and plan to buy the domain from GoDaddy.

Will you be using Wordpress for your blog?  That is what I use for my blogs so I can help you out if that is what you will be using.  It's really very, very easy.

Ok I am confused because it sounds like mommy confessions want to do the same thing. Am I missing something big here? My url now is http://tidbitsoftammy.blogspot.com/ but I want to use the one I bought from google that is www.tidbitsoftammy.com. Is that not the same? Huh?
You want to keep your blog with blogspot.  Many people use the Wordpress script for their blogs rather than blogspot.  Since I've used both, I can tell you my opinion is that Wordpress is a million times better.  If you do it that way it's very easy.

Michellew--GoDaddy will walk you through the steps to get your ftp address pointing to the right host.  Call and let them walk you through it.  If you don't have time, just go to Manage Domains on the GoDaddy menu once you've signed into your account.  From there -you want to direct your DNS and there will be a drop down menu to create a custom or use a default.  With a GoDaddy account you can use their default and point any domain to it.

Does that make sense???  If not, just call--GoDaddy is easy--their web design stuff -- I think it's called weblight or something?  not so good.

Thanks for the info. Bit by bit I am getting info from epople to help me decide what to do. Right now I am torn between getting the domain from go daddy and staying with the blogger host or switching to wordpress. I want to do whatever will keep me from losing any traffic.

I have an AWESOME idea for some decor for your blog and I love the post I just read!!  whoohoo--you are some kind of funny.
I'll work on it this weekend and send it to you.  Don't worry, if you don't like I won't be crushed--and if you love it?  Whoohoo--a little shout and a link is more than I can ask for. I'm just having fun.

OK, I really need to finish Grey's Anatomy right now.
really.

Sorry I am just now getting to respond I been under the weather. So you are telling me That instead of my blog being thru blogger I would open a blog thru wordpress? Then it is easier? Would I lose anything or would anything change on my blog? Would people know? Sorry to be so dense.

I am game but I do not think I could do it myself. The lady who made my template went and did everything for me.

Is wordpress free like blogger?  How come it's easier than blogger?  I'm interested because I really like the look of a lot of the wordpress blogs that I am reading.

Wordpress is a stand alone program that you install on your domain.  It is free.  You will need a hosting plan and domain to run this.  Personally for me, it's easier because I am in more control of the behind the scenes code, widgets, etc.  I'm geeky like that and love pulling apart the code, tweaking etc.

If this is not something people are interested or comfortable doing...

There is also http://wordpress.com which is like Blogger, meaning it's all web-based, and it is free for people to use.  They use Wordpress there, which is of course updated with the latest version. It's a great way to get the feel for the program without having to go through and buy a domain and hosting, then figure out how to get the stand-alone program installed.

I would recommend anyone new to Wordpress or wanting to try it out, go over and take a look at wordpress.com to get the feel for the program.  You may just love it there and not want your own domain afterall.  You will have a blog address of username.wordpress.com  ..

It's just a really good way to take a look at what WP is all about. Smiley
