Ok I bought a custom domain name thru goggle and it said that since I bought it thru them it would be easy to switch over. Wrong it will not do it. I do not know how to do this. Anyone that can help? It would be very much appreciated. Grin

Tammy,

I'm not really sure what you're asking.  You bought your own domain name- so now your blog is something like mydomainname.com instead of mydomainname.blogspot.com.  Am I correct about that part?

And now you want to move your posts from your blogspot blog so that they show up on your new domain name?  Or do you want to redirct your traffic from your old blogspot blog?  I might be able to help you if I have a better understanding of what you are asking.

Sorry I was not clearer. I don't want to move my blog. I bought www.tidbitsoftammy.com thru blogger and goggle because they said it would be a smooth switch, well I go to where it say to switch to a custom domain in blogger and it will not let me switch. It that more clear?

I understand now.

Have you read this?  http://help.blogger.com/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=55373

That seems to explain it pretty well.  Although I've never actually done this, so I don't know if it is as simple as it sounds.

Yes this is where my problems began it tells me how to walk thru it I do it and it does not work. So I went to the help group and got no where as well. I am sure if I was more savvy it is simple but I am not so I guess I will just have to be happy I own my domain and keep it to myself.

How long have you waited?  I noticed this particular paragraph:

"Once you've told one particular DNS server about your new domain, it will have to transfer that information to all the other servers on the internet, which could take a couple of days. So be aware that your new domain won't necessarily be working instantly."

Is it possible you just have to wait a couple of days?  Or have you already done that?

It has been about month and a half. It also says that if you have bought thru google that you do not even have to messed with the DNS because I am on blogger and bought thru goggle.

Isn't there some technical support you can contact?

I, on the other hand, want to do exactly what you are saying. I want to move my entire blog to a new domain. So, how do I go about doing that? I'm on Blogger and plan to buy the domain from GoDaddy.

Will you be using Wordpress for your blog?  That is what I use for my blogs so I can help you out if that is what you will be using.  It's really very, very easy.

You want to keep your blog with blogspot.  Many people use the Wordpress script for their blogs rather than blogspot.  Since I've used both, I can tell you my opinion is that Wordpress is a million times better.  If you do it that way it's very easy.

If you do use Wordpress for your new blog, this is a behind the scenes look at mine.  (Click on the little picture and it will get much bigger.)  To import your blogger blog to Wordpress you would click on Manage, then Import, then Blogger.  Then you follow the directions and your entire blog, including comments should move to your new blog.
