For those of you have your own masthead design on a site like blogger, did you do it yourself? How did you insert it into your html editor?

For those with your own .com, did you design your own site/logo/masthead/ etc?
I am looking for someone to design my own website, but have no idea what to even look for. I have all the ideas of how I want it to look, but have very little money for design costs. Any thoughts? Anyone know anyone who does web design cheap? lol
Thanks!!!!!!!! Kiss

If you live near a local college that has a web design program, contact them. The students need to build thier portfolios and will work for little $ most of the time. They need the real life experiance, and you need a blog design. It works!

You can always enters lots of contests to have one done for free...

If you just want a new header that isn't usually too expensive.  If you're looking to have a whole new template created just for you, that can get kind of costly.

There's tons of free stuff out there too.  But, with that you always risk running into someone else using the same template/header as you are.

To do it yourself- are you familiar with any of that kind of stuff?  Using clipart?  Frontpage?  Depending on how much you know and how much time you have to play around with things and look stuff up on the Internet- there is a wealth of knowledge at your fingertips.

I like grocermama's idea too!

I can do the graphics part of it but not the HTML or XML. So I find a design that I like as far as how many columns, etc. and then I replace the graphics with my own. (Obviously I still give them the credit for the layout design and only give myself credit for modifying it.)

I have my own domains but I go through Blogger and I just upload my header in the widget section then I add my background/wallpaper into the "edit HTML".

I've been working on some blog graphics sets to get some practice so I can eventually start offering them to other bloggers at an extremely low cost but enough for them to have a unique look.

I just commented to you on your blog about this as well.

So, you can have your own domain and still host it through blogger? How does this work because clearly this seems like it would be the easiest way for me to make the transition. I want to start on it as soon as my masthead is designed? How does blogger redirect from the old blog to the new domain?

If you are interested in designing a 125 x 125 button for me to advertise my blog, I can tell you what I am lookig for. I would REALLY appreciate it. I will definitely link all of your blogs on mine at the very least.

That is a really great idea.
Basically in a nutshell this is what is going on. I am on blogger right now. My blog is called Mommy Confessions. The url is http://sometimesdisgruntled.blogspot.com (Because it was originally called Confessions of a Sometimes Disgruntled Mom). I opted for blogger because I know so little about html and web design and all that and it was so easy.
Now I want to get my own domain www.momsdiner.com
I want it so that the user has more options when they get to the page than simply reading my one page blog. I want to have a menu bar where they can view the confessions blog (if you look at my blog you can see what I do), plus 2 or 3 other areas that they can go to. I have no clue how I am going to do this. I just write. I need to leave the techy stuff to the pros. lol. Am I going to need a web designer? Can I do this with blogger? And how do people get their own domain and still have blogger host it? And what will happen when people go to my current url- will it redirect them to the new one? And mpst importantly, has your head exploded yet from my barrage of questions? lol! Huh?

Just an FYI - the domain www.momsdiner.com  is for sale it says for $25,000   soooo.. that one won't work.

FYI - we actually have a site called Moms Diner - our url is  http://www.moms-diner.com

I'm not familiar with Blogger - but I know that with Wordpress you have the option to create regular "pages" but you still need to know HTML in order to do that.  You could also buy a template or get a free template to use for a regular website.  Also - there are "Website Builders" out there that are like a WYSIWYG editor.  Similar to Word - where you just point and click and add things.  But I suggest if you want your own domain and to have a site... you learn a bit of HTML - it will make the world of difference for being able to do some simple things.

I've seen some Blogger sites that have more than one page, like an About Me page or Photos page, etc. but I don't know if they did it themselves or if they use a template someone else designed or what.

I just bought my domain names from GoDaddy then set up my Blogger account to publish to that URL. (It also involved changing a setting in my GoDaddy account but it was really wasy.

As far as designs and stuff, there are all sorts of free templates out there and if you mess around and learn a little bit of HTML you can tweak and modify them to suit your needs.

I saw your comment on my blog and I left one in response but just in case you don't see it.... let me know what you want on it as far as color scheme, style, etc.
