I can't stand it!  I have some people that only show up on my blog to promote their blog.  Even when I have written emotional, heartfelt posts I will have people leave these comments:

Nice post, sorry for your loss.  Don't forget about my big contest starting sunday.

Great topic, don't forget my recipe give away.

I can't stand it when they use my comment section to promote themselves.  I have never ever done that to anyone.

Does this bother anyone else or am I alone on this one?  My comment section is not a billboard for other people to solicit themselves.

I too hate those types of posts.  I can approve or disapprove any comment made to any of my blog posts, at least for my wordpress blogs.  It is a spam pluggin.  Not sure what blogspot has, but I do know they have  a way to block certain people from spamming on your blog.  At least it would be something worth looking into to stop it from happening

I wish it was spam commenting.  These are real readers that visit me every single day and  leave a comment just about every single time.  It is just when they are running some kind of an event they pimp it out in every body's comment section.  It just bugs me.

I get the generic ones (John from Viagra) has been making the rounds.  But that's not what I mean.  These are real people.

I always go through my comments the day after the post has run and delete anything that I don't care for ... if someone has never been to my blog before I want them to see entertaining banter and not other people's negativity, sarcasm or promotions.

Does anyone else do this?

Yes, I have done that when a post has gotten through the spam blockers.  It is your blog and you should feel all right with monitoring the comments.

I always feel crappy after I post a rant because I have had so many wonderful things happen as a result of blogging and the good experiences weigh so much more than the bad experiences.

i totally agree with you.  i hate it because i don't do it to others, everytime I visit a blog, I relly take time to read and give an honest comment, although sometimes if i feel lazy to read a long post, i simply wish the blogger a great day or weekend but definitely not to promote anything or to invite them to something. i think shoutbox is the place for that kind of stuff.

As I have been sifting through other people's comment sections I do see that the greatest offenders at my site are also promoting themselves at others.

Not really surprised by that fact as much as I am surprised by the audacity of it.

Here's my opinion,

It has happened to me, but I really don't get much traffic, so it's not a bugger yet.  However, when it does, I let it alone because I figure if the true friends who
read my blog would ever jump over to someone who is that insensitive to my current blog, then do I really want them hanging around?  Nope.

But that's just me.  neener
I like the option to delete and have used it when someone has tried to prove me wrong, or take over the post to make themselves smarter.  Roll Eyes But the promoters?

They are desperate people seeking attention, so I make sure I don't give them any!  Smiley I almost feel sorry for them, because they obviously don't have the kind of traffic they think they need,  poor things.   Shocked
