I know how to write. I have readers...but how do I make the jump from a good readership to making any cash? Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

I am not an expert on this. I would just like to share what I do in making money out of my blog. I decided to sign up for payperpost (which made me earn $20 on my first post, not bad eh?). I also put adsense in my blog.

I read somewhere that it is kinda off when one attempts to make money out of one's blog. But I can't help it. I need to earn money. Who doesn't, right?

Hi Aimee! It is a bit taxing doing payperpost since you have to make an unsponsored post before and after the sponsored post. I am afraid I might not be able to think of something to write. Some friends have earned as much as $1000 per month doing it. While some are earning as much as $600 through adsense. So I guess I will give it a try for now.

I need more readers as i have only earned 31 cents!  I need to create my own, so I can say more of what I want to say!

I can't believe that people are making that much thru adsense and payperpost.  My husband was telling me the other day if I wanna get our own house, he'd want me to get a part time job...well...maybe I can just get good at blogging! LOL

I just went into payperpost, turns out i signed up, but didn't add my blog or anything-duh!!!

I also found it hard to believe. I thought it was just one of those lame strategies to advertise. But when I learned that a former lawyer-turned-SAHM friend of mine can send her kids to an exclusive school here in our country (I am from the Philippines) just from earnings in adsense and payperpost, I thought, what the heck?! I need to earn as well now that I have resigned and will homeschool my kids.

Well, maybe it's time to start earning in payperpost? Smiley

I am part of the BlogHer Ad Network and have been since August.  Once I put the ads up work got crazy and I quit blogging for 7 months and just recently started again.  Since really getting back into it and building up my readership again I've made $25 in 3 weeks by doing nothing but writing on my blog.  I know that isn't much but I think once I really get my readership up it will pay off.

The BlogHer ad network pays per 1000 impressions - Usually the ads pay anywhere from $4 to $15 per 1000.

Obviously I am no expert but thought I'd share what i know.  Also, BlogHer isn't accepting new Blogs at this time but you can get on the email list when they open again.

Good Luck!  I want to know how to make more too!  Also, all the proceeds from my ads I give back to my readers through contests.  I like contests and I like holding them even more Smiley

thanks for the replies. I'll check out blogher and sign up for the list. I have adsense, but no money on that yet. not sure if i am doing something wrong there. as for pay per post, I might have to try that. I tend to research a lot before trying it.
I know that making money is not the goal, writing is...but i write to make money since i am a freelance writer, so that takes me full circle.
600 a month would be great from ads. right now, I'll settle for 6 bucks.
lol

i'm with ya there-600 would be nice, but 6 would be great too.

I have a friend that does payperpost, and she does it to just cover her internet costs each month.  Once we have to start paying internet again (we live with friends) then I think i'll try and make that goal with payper post Smiley

I do lots of research on things that I do too.  Its totally worth it to figure it out first!

There are a few ways you can make money with your blogs. Much of it depends on your topic.
If you use adsense, you need to make sure it's where readers see it. Google offers two ways to make money, either per click (which othen pays just pennies) or you can get paid per sign up, which pays more. But the user actually has to sign up to the offer they click on.

Another way to make money blogging is through affiliate networks like hydra media, primary ads and commission junction. These networks provide campaigns that pay per lead or sale. You can place banners or text links on your site. The tracking links track your clicks and leads. Campaigns payout any where from $1.00 on up to $30 for sale campaigns (a purchase is required to get paid).
Either way you decide to make money with your blog you need three things to be successful - traffic, traffic and traffic.

Make sure to have a newsletter signup on your site. You can put some of these offers together that would be of interested to your readers and send them out alerts when they come available. You can use constantcontact.com to manage your mailing list.

If you are creative, you can create your own products on cafepress.com and zazzle.com and sell them on your site. Also, Etsy provides a place to sell your handmade goods.

If you write what you are passionate about, finding a way to make money with it will follow.

Thanks grocery momma! Awesome tips.
I'll defintekly refer to this.
question-what is "good" traffic? is 1,000 hits a month chump change or am i getting somewhere? and how can i get a newlsetter going if i am not even sure how to get people to subscribe? I'm on blogspot and slightly "dumb" here.
