Wow Em...I left a comment, but to tell you the truth I am speechless.  First time that has happened in a while, I can tell you.

How you held on to your temper I will never know, but then your child was there and you were alone.  Some of your neighbors need to really look at the Bible if they are going to say they are Christians.

That's the thing.... lots of GOOD CHRISTIANS do these things in the name of Christianity... which is exactly why I can't get my husband to settle into a good Church, ya know?
Oh yes, my bloggin friend.... I was speechless too... it took me a while for it to sink in. Then, just now, he asked if my son could go look at his rig with some of the other neighborhood friends... and I simply said "no thank you"... because several little kids were out there.
It's so gross.
I just want to scream and cry. lol
won't do any good though.

Ugh. We get the same problems... it's awful isn't it?
But you know, I kind of appreciate the people who are up front about their prejudices... it's the hidden/institutionalized injustices that bother me more. Often the things that people don't say... those people who have a "filter" are worse and more insidious.
I'm sorry you had to go through that. Sad

My husband and I talked about that tonight and part of me wishes people would FILTER better, and part of me knows it is best for folks to be upfront about their HATE issues no matter how offensive.
UGH...
at least I know who to avoid.

Living in the state I do which are known for being racist, I still get blind sided by comments like that.  My family will tell j/ks that are racist and my husband and i never laugh.  Now they know better because they know I will leave.  Plus i do not want my son to hear things like that.  I am a christian and in the bible it says to love everyone.  I take that literally and besides I choose to not judge based on color of skin and teach my son the same.  I was very happy to see Obama elected president because not only did he get my vote but he made history.

I too was speechless and gasping while I read Em's post.    It's just a very sad reality of our country.

I think there are a lot of people who claim to be Christians- and clearly they are not.  If they truly believe that God created all people in His image- how can they believe that one race is less than another.

You handled yourself very well Em.
