I just blubbered and bragged all over my blog...
Is that bad form? Or is it fun to read?
It's so hard to judge what people will think...

If your blog was not about Peanut and her adventures, then maybe.  But it is obvious that this little girl is the center of your life.  So blubbering and bragging are permitted, and no it is not bad form.

I happen to love reading about Peanut and her adventures, as I know she will get older and the adventures more adventurous (I think I spelled that wrong).

Don't worry about what people think, they will either like it or not.  I love it.

Sweetie, Don't feel bad... I ALWAYS go overboard with my postings.. be yourself.. and NEVER worry about what others think... the older I get, the less I care what other think.. this is YOUR LIFE and feel free to express yourself.. we are not here to judge.. we are here to uplift and encourage... look at my blog... all I write about is how great my children are... if have the right rock on

Here's the thing, it's YOUR blog. If someone doesn't like what YOU'VE put on YOUR blog, then they need to use the little "x" and not read anymore.

I only ask because I'm a little sad that my blog rating has gone down from 5 stars to 3  Huh?

I have a few things to say... #1... we all brag and are proud of our children/grandchildren/family members children, etc... I say - BE PROUD...and if others think it bragging... like Audrey said, they need not read it.
#2... Who rates blogs and why would you worry about it? Do you blog to be rated or for the fun of it? I had no idea there were ratings...
#3... It's pretty cool that Peanut is so smart.

Congrats.

Thanks! And no, I don't really care that much about ratings but I guess I was hoping to get feedback and I'm trying to guess what that means...  Undecided

I think it is okay considering there are days I have posts that are bragging about my son or husband.  I blog for me and my peace of mind that comes with it.  Go with what you like because after all it is your blog and no one elses.

Well, I wouldn't worry about going from five stars to three.  I was at five for quite a while and then someone must have shot me a one star and I plummeted, too.  Consider the anonymous source, I guess.

The other thing to consider (regarding your postings to be in poor form or not) is once again, what is your actual goal?

Are your writing to journal Peanut's life and adventures?  Well, then readership shouldn't be the biggest concern.  The legacy you leave behind in your writing is your tribute to The Peanut and not to the readership.

Are you writing for pleasure or profit?  Again, if it is "The All About You" Network, don't worry about readers right now.

Enjoy reading comments?  Try ending the posts with questions that seduce comments: tell me I am not alone in this situation, or how often has this happened to you.

Perhaps you can answer the original question by going back to your original goals at the conception of your blog.

I guess three is better than the two it's currently at. I have to say I'm a little disheartened.
My reason for starting the blog was to chronicle my ups and downs as a first-time-mom. Yes, it was partly to have a record of this incredible journey, but also to connect with people who were going through something similar.
I've never been very comfortable sharing my writing, so this is also a way for me to come to terms with that.
I have always wanted to write a book, so I'm hoping that the blog will be a jumping off point for that (sharpen my writing skills and become a better writer through practice).
I just added some stuff to make money, but that's not really a primary concern of mine. My main concern is to write about what I like, what I'm experiencing and what I am observing...
But no one likes to hear that they suck. So the fact that people have taken the time to rate my blog with  one star or whatever they put in is extremely disheartening. As much as I don't want to care what other people think, it does bother me. I'll probably just have to grow a thicker skin... since there is no feedback with this anonymous rating system, there's nothing much I can do about it. dunno

If the rating can't be removed, ignore it.  Easier said than done.  I watched it every day maybe even more in the beginning.

Blogging is a good form of self discipline if you would like to write a book someday.  I joined a local writing group that meets once a week and if you can't get out of the house to attend a local group perhaps a search would reveal one on line for you.

Don't beat yourself up, did someone actually say you suck?  Or is that your guess.

Take a second for some personal hindsight here.  First time mom you say?  Even if your baby has been on the outside of you for a few weeks or a few months or a few years you certainly aren't who you were while you were pregnant.  Your confidence in yourself as a mother has probably grown.  As you toss your writing out there into the "real" world, well your confidence may grow in that area too.

You did a nice job articulating your thoughts and feelings in your post here at the forum.  Just be yourself for now, don't worry about the vote.  This is coming from a perpetual "star checker" myself.

where is the rating?
I can't even find it. Is it something only you can see?

I guess I don't understand blogging for others. If my blog makes someone laugh or they learn something.. great... but my blog is for me, ya know?

Don't let it get to you!
