She was "giving the child some air".

My. God.

My question is: When did she think this was okay and safe? If  I was the mother she would not being caring for my child again.

I was talking with WonderHubby about this earlier, and he wondered whether the grandmother might be having a 'dementia moment'...

 oh my
How can you even defend that? I was holding her leg... WHATEVER! hahaha
It's time for some "white coat" help! WOW That is crazy.
But Florida is especially like that. I lived there for a long time. Lots of strange things. LOTS!

I bet if we were to really look at this womans past, other incidents would be there.  I would be, even with early dementia, she has done this sort of thing before, but has never been caught.

That is way to scary.

I think you're right, Nancy.

Just because you haven't been caught doing something previously doesn't mean you haven't done it.

It just means you haven't been caught.

I hate to say this but Florida (and I can say it since I live here) is an incredibly dangerous place for kids in terms of protecting them but this --- I've gotta agree that maybe there's a dementia component here.  I can't imagine anybody in their right mind thinking this was okay.   ponder

Nancy

I just wondered if everyone here thought 54 was old and that this age commonly saw senility?

Audrey, I am 60 and there is no excuse.  If senility was an issue the child's parents should have seen some signs and not left the child alone with the grandmother unsupervised.

There is obviously something wrong with this woman for her to think it is all right, but I am not sure it is senility or dementia.

Thanks Nancy....was just wondering Smiley

I believe from the little bit we have read that it's just plain ignorance and stupidity.
