A small rant...
I am so tired of getting stupid emails about Obama being Muslim and not patriotic, etc.
I'm not asking my family or friends to like him. But become informed. BOTHER to research the truth before you send MANY blast emails that are filled with lies.
Don't ya'll hate that?

This goes for all internet rumor emails. Not just political ones.
UGH...

I know what you mean.  I really hate when someone goes off about how a poilitician is this or that.  You ask them where they got their sources: they say an e-mail or some webpage that is probably bogus.  The best one is people telling other people even though they can't back it up but everyone believes none the less.  That is why countries think the U.S is stupid.  If you are going to vote get informed and something that is concrete.  My mom sent me an e-mail that had all these things about the Obama's book and things he supposely said.  About being mulsim, etc.  I checked the book out from the library and read it.  I found nothing to the sort regarding that e-mail. I hear people say he is not an american citizen.  I always laugh b/c the last time i checked you have to be a natural born american citizen to run for president.  I am a history major in college I think I would know that.

Exactly... my father, very educated... sends an email about Obama that we have all seen for the past year or so... about how he is a muslim and doesn't salute the flag. It's on snopes and several other sites that it is not true. AND... now they are saying McCain may not have been born in the US. hahaha IDIOTIC.
Meanwhile, if you are born in Germany on an American Base to American citizens.... you are a dual citizen (in some countries, if not all) but you are an American. Right?
Why do people believe media hype... bother to get informed. UGH!

I'm smiling. I know many people don't care for Bush. That's fine, people have a right to their opinions. But one friend of my moms, when I say "why don't you like him?" her answer is "because he's stupid". I'll say "in what way is he stupid?" and again she'll say "he's just stupid"

I know the man has made choices that some don't agree with, however the man is not stupid. I'm ok with someone not liking a candidate but at least give a valid reason, such as his/her stance on an issue, his/her affiliation with something. But to just say "he/she is stupid" doesn't sit well with me.

I'll tell you what bothers me and bothers me a lot. That is the topics of the sermons that Obama has been listening to for years and years. This is fact. It's not fiction. He's been hearing the same messages of hate and bigotry for a really long time. This does bother me. It bothers me a lot.

If we are brought to a church as a child, we don't have a choice. He's a adult man running to be the president of our country. It was HIS CHOICE to attend this church and to listen to these sermons. It was HIS CHOICE to affiliate with the man who delivered the sermons.

I've heard claims that oh he didn't listen. I'm sorry that doesn't sit will with me either as hearing messages is going to be a huge part of his job should he win.

My 2 cents, or 5 cents on the matter.

I agree Audrey... I voted for Bush. He is smart, by virtue of the fact he went to Yale for heaven's sake. And anyone who knows about politics knows that with a democratic congress they are just as responsible for the economy, etc... But don't get me started on that.
As for Obama listening to that message... I believe that some of the message the man preached on are probably true and real. I also think it is unfortunate that we have only heard snippets of his sermons and believe the worst.
I think Obama is a much better man than McCain. But that is my opinion.
I am curious to see who the VP picks are and am scared for our country!

Is anyone out here old enough to remember this?

When I was a kid, we always referred to The President.  We never would have said Bush it was always President Bush.  Especially on the news, there was so much more respect for our nation's leaders.  Well, so much respect for everyone in our nation for that matter.

I still gringe when they say Bush or Obama.  Even when I was in high school (which was in the mid seventies) we still would have used their state title and not just their last name.

Sorry, I am an old fashioned girl at heart.  I can remember when won that election and they were calling him Clinton rather than President-Elect Clinton.  It has been bugging me for years, first time I said it out loud (in writing).

Hmm, I thought I would feel better faster Wink

Hey, I wasn't reprimanding anybody ... I was having a flashback.  That is what we old people do now.  We chart our bowel habits and long for the olden days. Wink

no worries. I didn't take it as a reprimand... but for me a good reminder.
For some, they may not remember days of constant respect... but I do and I miss them!

For starters, Being retired military I have a problem with how little McCain helps the military.
Not supporting cost of living raises, but making sure to vote himself a raise. That sort of thing bugs me.
Plus, I really like Obama. I think people are scared of him because he isn't afraid to tell the truth. All the political rumors about him make people nervous.... nevermind that he is black (so is my husband btw)... lol
But anyway... Look at McCain - he looks like a liar. I can spot them a mile away.
